MS PBIS

Black River Middle School has done a great job focusing on and celebrating our four core PBIS values (Respect, Responsibility, Resourcefulness, and Readiness). The students work toward a goal as a building every quarter to participate in engaging events. While the school is working towards these goals collectively, there are great things happening in classrooms to strengthen our PBIS values. Here are a few of the many awesome things going on:

*Mrs. Herriage has a "Fun Friday" activity they play called Quiddler. Students work together to achieve the highest score, and at the end of 4 weeks, the highest scoring class gets bragging rights and a treat. It's teaching them to strategize and listen to one another, all while completing a word game!

*Mrs. Roe hands out tickets to those who are ready to go and following directions as they enter the class. They also get tickets for resourcefulness and problem solving on their own. There are drawings each week where they can win something small or risk it for something bigger! The decision of what to do is always agony!

*Mrs. Starkey has a daily readiness check. Students work together to be ready with all items necessary for the day. When everyone is ready, the class earns a point and after 15 ready point tallies, we celebrate with a selected class activity for part of math class!

*Mrs. O'Dell has a baseball incentive for some friendly competition between periods. Classes move bases for going above and beyond in any of the 4 core PBIS areas. The first period to make it home resets the game, and they earn a reward voted on by the class. The last winner was period 3 and they earned a candy apple making party while they worked on group activities!

These are just a few of the amazing things happening at BRMS. We would LOVE to know how our students are showing these awesome values in the community as well! Please feel free to add a message sharing some of the awesome things our middle schoolers are doing in the community as well!
