The 7th Grade ELA classes are reading "The Outsiders," which takes place in the 1960s. They have learned a lot about 1960s culture from reading the novel. In chapters 3 and 4 of the book, the main character mentions musical artists Elvis Presley and Hank Williams, as well as the band The Beatles. The students listened to hit songs by each of the artists/band, and then voted on their favorite. The poll was pretty close with both Elvis and Hank Williams recieving 29.9% of the vote, but The Beatles emerged on top with 40.3% of the vote. The students enjoyed hearing hits from over 50 years ago!
