Summer EBT Program

Dear Black River Families,

In summer 2024, the USDA will launch Summer EBT/SUN Bucks, a new grocery benefits program that provides families $120 for each eligible school-aged child to buy groceries when school is out. Summer is a time when households might need a little extra help putting meals on the table. Most families will get these benefits automatically, but some parents will need to apply. The new program is in addition to free meals that kids of all ages can get at summer meal sites in their communities.

Children are automatically eligible for the program if:

  • The child/children already participates in the school Free/Reduced Lunch Program or

  • The household participates in the SNAP, FDPIR or TANF program

If the household does not participate in one of the above programs, the household may still be eligible. These households should complete a Free/Reduced lunch application to determine eligibility to participate in the Summer EBT/SUN Bucks program.   Contact Mrs. Bonnie Cooper at 419.736.3300 extension 1109 or at bcooper@blrv.org to receive an application.  Be sure and apply by June 10, 2024.

Children and teens need healthy food year-round to play, grow, and learn. Summer EBT/SUN Bucks will help families stretch their grocery budget during the summer and help provide their children with the nutrition they need to thrive.

Together, we can make summer brighter for our children.
