Chris Clark Reading to Kindergartners

March 15, 2024

Dear Black River Staff and Community,

I am writing to let you know that I have made a personal decision to retire as Superintendent of the Black River Local School District, effective July 31, 2024. This will conclude my contractual yearly obligation with Black River Local Schools. Serving this district for the past ten years has been a great honor, and throughout that period, I have worked hard to perform my duties to the best of my abilities. With over 36 years dedicated to education, the moment has arrived for me to embark on a new chapter of my life.

I want the staff and the community to know that working with them to promote and enhance the district’s academic standing has been a truly rewarding experience for me. I recognize the challenges ahead for the district, and I commit to assisting in the transition to help the district overcome these challenges. The ongoing development and implementation of the District Strategic Plan will continue to guide future decisions for the district.

I am deeply grateful to the families and community of Black River for your support during my time with the district. The staff and community here are remarkably caring and dedicated, and I am grateful for every connection I've made. The Black River community exemplifies the essence of support, showing what it means to support the schools even in the most challenging circumstances. This community and its staff are truly exceptional in their work ethic and pride; I would confidently match their dedication and pride against any other.

Thank you for your support throughout the years, and I extend my best wishes for ongoing success to the Black River Local School District.

Sincerely,

Chris A. Clark, Superintendent.
