Amy Doty

I am so excited to begin my third year as a Pirate! This year, Mrs. Aviles and I are sharing the responsibility of leading the Middle School and High School. In addition, I am serving as the technology director for Black River Local Schools. I am looking forward to the year ahead and the chance to learn more about our students and community.

I have been in education for many years and have taught students aged preschool through college graduate students. I have taught Music, Math, Social Studies. ELA and Technology. Prior to coming to Black River, I was a Technology Administrator in nearby Buckeye Local Schools.

The best part of my day is when a student grows - mastering a new standard, developing a new skill, making a new friend, learning to handle difficult tasks and situations, or getting through a rough day with a positive attitude. Teaching our students to be resilient, problem solvers who treat other people with kindness will help them be successful in whatever life path they may choose. I am looking forward to supporting our students and staff to help them achieve their goals!

Cathy Aviles

I started my education career in 1993 after graduating from Ashland University. I have been fortunate to have been a part Black River since 1998. My husband and I built our home within the Black River school district in 1998. We have three daughters who are all successful graduates of BRHS.

The vision of Black River Middle & High School is to provide our students with opportunities and resources to become well rounded, responsible citizens who work to achieve their maximum potential. BR is committed to pride, excellence, and in being the best school that we can be. I hope that you will become committed with us and become involved with the various activities BR has to offer.
