About Mr. Sleggs
I am originally from Orchard Park, NY and I started playing trumpet in 4th grade and continued to play though middle and high school. After high school I attended the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music where I received my Bachelors of Music Education in 2014. I was hired by Black River in 2015 and have absolutely loved being a part of the Black River community ever since. When not at school or doing band things, I enjoy playing golf and boating on Chautauqua Lake with my wife Hayley.
About the Black River Band Program
The Black River Band program is dedicated to fostering a lifelong passion for music by creating a life changing music education experience for the students of Black River Local Schools. The BR Bands are comprised of the HS Concert Band (our flagship concert ensemble), Pirate Marching Band, Jazz Band, 7th & 8th Gr. Symphonic Band, and the 6th Gr. Beginning Band. Collectively the band program delivers upwards of 50 performances a year. Performances range from Friday Night football games to marching band competitions to concert band festivals and parades. Both the HS Concert Band and MS Band have consistently earned SUPERIOR ratings at OMEA Adjudicated events. Be sure to view the band calendar and join us for our next performance!
