A little bit about me...
I graduated from Ashland University with a dual teaching degree: general education/intervention specialist PK-3. I have a Master's degree in Education: Reading with 2 endorsements. I have been at Black River for 10 years. I had the privilege to teach Title I for 4 years, 2 years of teaching integrated preschool, third grade and fourth grade.
Grade Level Statement:
The 2024-2025 school year has given me the opportunity to teach two subjects that I absolutely love: English Language Arts and Social Studies. In Ohio, fourth-grade learning skills are defined by the state’s learning standards, which outline what students should know and be able to do by the end of the school year.
English Language Arts (ELA): Skills include reading comprehension, writing, speaking, and listening. Students learn to analyze texts, write essays, and develop their vocabulary.
Social Studies: Topics include civic literacy, financial and economic literacy, and global awareness. Skills such as problem-solving, communication, media literacy, and leadership are emphasized.
These standards strive to provide a comprehensive education that prepares our students for future academic success and life-long learning.
